Carousel Drive consists of Singer/Songwriter Jeff Frank. Carousel Drive was formed in 2015 after Jeff ventured off to create his own project. Originally from Selinsgrove Pennsylvania, Jeff is very active in the San Diego California music scene since he moved out there 2 years ago.
Carousel Drive roots influences from music acts such as Snow Patrol, Augustana, and Coldplay. He recently wrapped up recording on his first EP, which will be releasing on iTunes in January, featuring songs such as Runaway, Constellations, and Barricade. With an increasingly growing audience, Carousel Drive will continue to channel his passion and fondness for melancholic pop rock.
This past week Jeff Frank, Ron Simasek and myself locked ourselves in the studio for 2 days and when we came out we had two beautifully arranged songs that I would describe as edgy, yet ambient and smooth pop rock.
Ron glued these songs together with an almost conductor-type drum approach. Hard hitting and bombastic when the songs grew intense and very sparse or nonexistent in the more intimate parts. It sounds like a simple thing to do, but when you are taking a song from it’s infant stage of vocal and vague guitar chords it is integral. Getting this path laid down correctly from the start means everything to the outcome.
After that Jeff and I had at it with layering guitars, making a nice sound scape and building blocks to further support the songs and weave around the vocals, which we added later.
I’m very excited about these songs and the productions as I am in the middle of mixing them. I’m hoping to wrap them up with mastering in the coming week.
